You Are Graceful {A Five Minute Friday Post}

Happy Friday, all!

Graceful...

You who can’t dance
Who is forever tripping, falling, bumping into things
Who has been told you sit, stand, or walk like a dude

You are graceful.

You who likes food you can eat with your hands (on a napkin or over the kitchen sink)
Whose style of dress is decidedly un-chic
Whose nail polish is chipped, whose eyeliner is crooked

You are graceful.

You whose chest turns all red-blotchy when you talk in front of a group
Who punctuates too-loud laughter with a snort
Who has the tendency to open mouth, insert foot

You are graceful.

You may not glide into the room. You may put your elbows on the table. Jeans and a tee may be the height of your fashion, (hey, it’s an upgrade from the sweats and oatmeal-crusted nightshirt), and your concealer doesn’t hide the last eight years of sleep deprivation. Maybe small talk makes you claustrophobic and public speaking gives you hives.

Even so…

You are graceful.

Full. Of. Grace.

Yes, I’m talking about the Jesus-died-for-me kind of grace that gets worn out in our minds like an overplayed Little People CD. The kind that—were we to realize it fully—would transform us. It bestows confidence and beauty that isn’t sold at Sephora, but one that is powerfully attractive to others. (And, oh yeah, pleasing to God). It is a grace that fills, drop by transformative drop, until we are so full we can’t help but spill grace all around us.
